Modern Prairie just hit the bookshop sleeves and I'm delighted to share it today!
I first met the author, Abi (Abigail Long) years ago in Houston, TX and I've been seeing her and her sisters at trade shows every year since. I adore them. They always remember my name, but I'm a little embarrassed to admit, I've often confused theirs. Honestly, I'm not that bad with names but each one of their's starts with an A, and they all look so beautifully alike. When I see them I'm both excited and worried because I might have called Abigail by Achaia or Apphia by Abiah, or any combination of those. Finally, I think I've mastered who's who but I will always, lovingly refer to them as The Long Sisters and I will always look forward to their smiles and giggling.
Abi has done a fantastic job with her first book. She's incorporated lots of tips and guidance for beginning sewers as well as a nice variety of projects.
For my stop on the book tour I decided to whip up the It's A Cinch, obi belt. It was a fun quick make and I love how easily it dresses up a simple T and chambray shorts.
I combined leather with two of my Arizona prints. This warm orangey colored leather, on the out side, paired perfectly with my Canyon Wall print for the ties and I used my Desert Blanket print on the inside. Because I'm less of a bow girl, I like that the ties are quite long and I double wrapped mine around to make a simple knot at the back. I also skipped the interfacing because the leather gave the belt plenty of structure. I think it'd be a beautiful accessory to pull in the waist of a maxi length Staple Dress or a long tunic over leggings. I'm ready to dress for fall!! How about you?!
