Wow. It's been such an incredibly beautiful and busy couple of weeks. I think I jam packed AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE in to these last few days of summer and my heart is feeling oh-so-full.
Here's a bit about what I've been up to...
First there was Natalie.
Natalie Miller came all the way across the world to teach 3 days of weaving and macramé workshops here in Columbus, Ohio.
I felt incredibly nervous about the whole event. Natalie has traveled the globe and is truly a master at her craft. I've been following her for quite a while and the simple fact that she would have me host one of her workshops sent me over the moon with happiness and nerves. I felt anxious about the venue, her travels, the food, our meeting for the first time, and even my hosting friends and house guests (it was actually my first time ever having non-family-member house guests stay with me! I know! so crazy).
Then everything went off with a bang and the workshops were pretty amazing! We all laughed a great deal and had so much fun creating together. I believe each student left feeling touched in some way, by Natalie's enamoring warmth and graciousness.
Beyond that she lit up my world with the idea that I too can chase my dreams even further . . . After spending a day with her, just Natalie, myself and my little girls palling around town and hanging out in my studio, I felt flooded with emotion and inspiration. A great sense of relief . . . I don't need to be self-conscious or afraid. I can do it. And I'm going to!!
Anyways, I might have to talk more about all that later because I'll probably get way too gushy if I go into it now . . . but let me just say one thing, Australia is on my bucket list, and I'll get to check it off next February!
Then, after my dear new friend left for her next adventure, I took a little trip to Cleveland and posted lots of pictures on my IG feed.
I was truly loving that city.. I walked more than I have in quite a long time and shopped a fair amount too. I came home with a vintage Kilim rug, an incredible handmade quilt from India, made from old saris, fabric and other treasures . . plus my heart was filled yet again by the kindness of strangers and friendships made. This mural I passed said it all : "life is sharing the same park bench" by John Morrell.
And then my #BOUNDfabrics started to arrive!!!! And Art Gallery Fabrics published our incredible lookbook for my newest collection.
Now for the last bit of my news, I'm officially opening my studio doors (another thing Natalie encouraged me to "just do").
I've listed the very first workshop I'll host in my home. Floral Design and Foraging with Eva of EcoFlora. Read all about that over HERE (official photos to come tomorrow). We hope some of you Columbus locals will join the fun.
Stay tuned for many more workshops! as well as fabric and sewing and traveling too... Because #dreamscometrue and #chasingthem + #havingfun + #livingcreatively is what life should be about.
Thanks for allowing me to share my dreams with you,
Oh and P.S. I finally started knitting!!! with Loopy Mango. Thanks to Natalie Miller for teaching me how. . now I'm addicted.
